Every since I created my Capsule Wardrobe that I was able to restrict my shopping habits by a lot! I mean, I used to get stuff probably every week or every month, but now I only go shopping twice a year, and that is if I do need something! I tend to shop at the beginning of Summer and at thin middle of Autumn, these are the seasons where I feel like I need to evaluate my wardrobe.

This Summer was hot, I mean really hot, so I realized that I needed to get some tank tops, because I only had 1 or 2 t-shirts and the rest where long sleeve shirts, so I got a few tank tops to add/replace in my capsule wardrobe. The same happen in Autumn, the cold days where here and I needed some new boots and a mid-season coat, I ended up also buying some new jeans because since I went Vegan I lost some weight and my jeans didn't fit me properly anymore.

I found out that only shopping twice a year made me able to choose better pieces, and not care about a higher price, because I had been saving up in case I needed something new in my wardrobe. I invest in pieces that can last me a long time and I always get pieces that are timeless, is rare for me to get trend pieces, unless I believe they will become timeless as well.

  1. Parece-me um bom conselho!

    Bom post :)

    1. Ja nao me faz diferença ir ao shopping.

    1. Eu so faço compras online.

    Obrigada!

    Um beijinho,

    Isabel

  4. Shopping twice a year seems awesome! I wish I could do that!
I have stopped going into shops when I don't need anything, but I'm still building my capsule wardrobe, so I do go shopping more that I wanted to. But I guess that's OK.

    1. Of course is OK to go to shops. I do it all the time, but I no longer feel tempted to get stuff. But since you are still building your capsule you ha a great excuse to get some items that you truly need =)
Good luck with your capsule Liz.

  5. Hi, Dani again. Since I only saw this today, what is your opinion on Black Friday? I hate it ! I mean, why do people go crazy for TV's and stereos? If it was food and water I would understand, but stuff? Let me know what your opinion on it is, I would love to know, specially because you are outside os the USA.

    1. Oh Black Friday..
Well I must say that I hate the USA black Friday, it's insane!
But here in Portugal the discount goes only to like.. 30% at best, so it's more like a normal season sale, but only for one day.
I do like buying online on Black Friday, because I can get pieces that I already needed but for better prices =)

    1. It has become easy with time, and also, when you learn that you don't need all that stuff, you will stop shopping.
